Leila Lives here.

This is the debut for my book review site.  I realize that there are now thousands of review sites on the web, but I shall attempt to make mine distinctive and worthwhile for serious readers and writers of literary fiction and poetry.

–A man is known by the company his mind keeps. Thomas Bailey Aldrich

–Some books are undeservedly forgotten; none are undeservedly remembered. W.H. Auden

–Many books require no thought from those who read them, and for a very simple reason — they made no such demand on those who wrote them. Charles Caleb Colton, 1825

–A book is made better by good readers and clearer by good opponents. Nietzsche, 1879

  1. Hi Leila, (not Aine?) this seems to me to have the potential to be a brilliant site for literary fiction, I hope you do really well on it. I like the quotes, I particularly relate to Auden’s. A strange thing, this thing that makes a book fly or remain grounded. I’ve read many a grounded book that should have flown, (and hopefully will one day,) and vice versa. It’s a bit of a lottery, but a site like yours could really help. Good luck. All the best, Dana

  2. Áine says:

Go raibh maith agat, A Dhana. Thank you, Dana. I note that you are in Donegal, one of my favorite places. I use the name Leila Smith to do reviews for Kindle Book Reviews, so I carried it over here. Also, I like the alliteration of Literary Leila. I am interested in your “ghostwriting.” How does one become a ghost writer (except by writing from the hereafter, of course)? When you finish your current project, feel free to send it to KBR for a review.

  3. Hi Aine, I’m English, with Irish Danish Grandparents, but I’ve been here 13 years, came for the solace of beauty after my partner died. I became a ghost-writer purely by chance, and worked for a small British publisher in Worcester, Many years ago. The experience gave me a great deal of experience and I loved it. And yes, once in the hereafter I hope it’ll be possible for me to be the other sort of ghost-writer. Thanks very much for offering to review my latest book. I will definitely take you up on the offer. Best of luck with your projects.
